ACHRC Trail Ride Awards
At the January club meeting, the discussion was whether to continue the ACHRC trail ride awards. Because the club has not held any trail rides in the past few years, trail rider membership has dropped and is no longer supporting the cost of these awards. In order to regain the trail rider memberships and retain the trail ride awards, the club is trying to get the word out about the awards and has also updated the process for reporting miles ridden.

2/1/10 - 9/30/10 Form |
General Rules & Information: |
- The 2010 Trail Ride Awards are for the period of 10/1/09 – 9/30/10.
- One 18 & Over and one 17 & Under trail ride buckle will be awarded to the rider in their age group with the most miles ridden during the award period noted in #1. A reserve award will be presented for the second highest miles in those age groups.
- Rider must be a member of ACHRC before they ride on a trail ride for those miles to count. All ACHRC memberships expire at midnight of December 31st. (Rider must have been a 2009 ACHRC member before they rode for the 2009 miles to qualify. Rider must be a 2010 ACHRC member before they ride for the 2010 miles to qualify.) - Miles must be from an organized trail ride in Alabama. An "organized trail ride" is a trail ride advertised for public participation, there is usually a fee, and requires you to register to ride in it.
- Miles are kept on the rider only.
- Rider must be on horseback, wagon miles do not count.
- Read the Trail Ride Report Forms carefully to understand the requirements for completing and submitting them correctly.
- Trail Ride Report Forms must be provided to the ACHRC Points Keeper within 10 days after the trail ride (with the exception of the 10/1/09 – 1/31/10 Trail Ride Report Form – it must be submitted by 2/20/10). If mailed, the postmark will be considered the received date. If there is any question regarding information submitted on a trail ride report form, the rider must provide the answer within 10 days of the request for additional information or the miles in question will be removed from the rider’s total.
- For the 2/1/10 – 9/30/10 report forms, you must attach a copy of the trail ride flyer, advertisement, email, printed webpage, etc. – whatever source you had that made you aware that there was an organized trail ride in Alabama. The source should contain contact information for the trail ride. This is your proof of the organized trail ride and ACHRC’s source for verification.
- For the 10/1/09 – 1/31/10 report forms, attach the source information if you still have it or can obtain it. Some type of contact information must be provided so that ACHRC has the ability to verify the organized trail ride took place. (All past trail rides must be verifiable for miles to qualify.)
- “Ride Official” – with any organized trail ride, there are people that folks go to with questions (someone over registration, a trail boss, a club officer, etc.), someone who, if ACHRC tries to contact the organization that put on the ride, they can verify and answer questions about the ride. It is suggested that when you arrive at the trail ride and register, tell the person at registration that at the end of the ride you’ll have a form you’ll need a “ride official” to sign, and ask them who they suggest you see about that.
